Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! It's easy to come up with tons of things to be thankful for but topping my list has to be our sweet Carolyn. I'm sure that's no surprise!

We drove down to Plains, GA on Wednesday evening. Plains is not only home to Jimmy Carter but also Adam's Dad! In years past we've made the Thursday trip down and back in one day but with Carolyn tagging along we decided to stay one night.

Rosalyn Carter decorated each of the rooms in the Plains Inn based on a different decade. We stayed int he 1980's room.
It was very lovely and spacious.

First stop on our Thursday morning tour of town was the peanuts. Adam and I were very disappointed to find they no longer had a peanut you could put your face in for a picture.

Next stop.. original site of Walters Grocery. Now Adam's uncle C.L. has an antique shop here.
After a delicious lunch with Adam's extended family and a competitive game of spoons we took Carolyn to meet her Great Grandmother via stained glass at the church. They hit it off.
4 generations of Walters.

We had a great time. It was definitely worth the hours of screaming Carolyn graced us with on the ride home. Hah! Poor thing would much rather play than be cooped up in a car seat. It shouldn't be long before we can distract her with a DVD.

  1. Great pictures! Carolyn is darling as usual and I'm sure someday she will
treasure these pictures! Very interesting 4 generations of Walters. I don't think I have ever seen a stained glass window of a relative. Is this a Plains, GA thing to do? Beautiful 1980's suite you stayed in and you and Adam are just fitting great in the Mom and Dad role:) Love you so much, Aunt Peggy

  3. Peggy - we just refer to my mother as Saint Beth. After 40 or so years of being the organist/pianist, the church wanted to honor her and that's what they came up with (back around 1999). Shortly thereafter, they decided that in the future, they would honor people differently... Murray

  4. Loved the photos - the stain glass was a great memorial to Adam's grandma.
Glad you had a wonderful time and she is growing every day - next year - she'll be telling you where to go. HA!

    Love,
    Aunt Mary
