Not only is this our very first major holiday in our new home but we are hosting the Walters for Thanksgiving dinner this Friday. I can't wait!! The double ovens are definitely going to be put to the test and I hope they are up for the challenge. If not, my next post may be about shopping for ovens. :-)
Anyway, I have my grandmother’s dining room table and chairs. Years ago when she moved into assisted living I bought them from her and have been storing them ever since (with the help of Aunt Shirley!) I was thrilled to finally have a place to put them and that there is TONS of space to add some furniture to go with. Since we moved in I've been keeping an eye on Craigslist for the perfect buffet and china cabinet. I wanted something older that goes well with the table and chairs and nothing new in the stores had the right look and feel.

Once I found out we'd be hosting this Friday I knew the hunt was really on and after seeing many sets I found the PERFECT one! This sweet lady, Bonnie, was hugging my by the time we had them in the truck. It's nice to see how someone has cared for and loved their furniture and happy to see if go to a nice home. Bring on the Turkey!

I couldn't be happier to FINALLY have somewhere to display our wedding china. Don't pick any up yet though because I haven't had a chance to take off all the stickers! :-o As you can see we even have plenty of room for the children's table, complete with tablecloth! Thank you for Murray (my Father-in-law) for making the table leaves for me, my Mom for letting me use my Grandmother's cornucopia for decoration, and Adam and my brother for spending a Saturday AM helping me move the furniture! I'll be sure to post how the big event goes. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Looks fabulous! The furniture is perfect! Happy Thanksgiving!!

ReplyDeleteYour dining room looks very traditional and beautiful!! I always had a children's table also -- they seem to enjoy their own space.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your Christmas decorations!!!
